J.J. = Dynomite?

Well...the Cavaliers went with J.J. Hickson at pick #19. Is that really the best we could do? I really smell a possible trade with Charlotte. They have both Raymond Felton and now D.J. Sugustin at point guard. I could see a Hickson (NC State product) and Big Andy (he was courted by Charlotte in the offseason) headed to Charlotte for Augustin and some other considerations.

As for now, J.J. is our man so lets hope he is DYNOMITE!

Guitar Hero

My 3-year old son loves to "play" the guitar. He is fascinated by guitar music and turns everything from forks and spoons to my crutches into a guitar so he can jam. We have a long way to go to get here, but check out this 8-year old guitar prodigy...he rocks!

Which Way To Go?

My wife and I find ourselves right of center when we discuss politics with family and friends but we like to keep our minds open to new ideas. We watch more CNN than Fox News and we enjoy listening to James Carville and Paul Begala as much as we like listeneing to Rush Limbaugh.

All of that said, we aren't in love with McCain and we can't see ourselves voting for Obama. Glenn Beck has an article up today that pretty much sums up my feelings on the subject, click here to understand the angst that me and many people that I know are feeling about the election. Shouldn't it be easier than this? Shouldn't I be excited? I normally am, this election cycle is just bizarre.

Thank You

My brother-in-law just forwarded this to me. Whether you were for the war in Iraq or against it, whether you were for President Bush or against him, take the time to click over to this site and watch the clip or watch it below from YouTube. The soldiers did not make the decision to go to war, they just put on their helmets and do their jobs and we all need to be more grateful for their sacrifices.

The Ultimate Crapshoot

One of the most favorite things for all die-hard sports fans to do is guess, I mean predict, what their favorite teams will do. It can range from completely random ramblings over a few beers at the bar to detailed breakdowns of your favorite NFL team's offensive line and how it will neutralize the pass rush of other teams in your division. Long story short, it makes sports talk what it is...fun.

However, it always takes me back when I see advanced guesses as to how upcoming seasons will turn out. More specifically, the prognosticators who target the college football bowl season as well as the NCAA tournament. These two people are paid to very specifically outright guess at what will happen in late November (bowl selection) and March (bracket announced). I can understand accurately selecting the teams who make a bowl or the big dance, but also selecting who they will play??? Seems a bit much, I wonder what their hit rate is when it is all said and done? But that is half the fun of it I guess.

Besides, how can I really argue with having the Buckeyes in the National Championship Game and the Blue Devils as a #1 seed?

Today's Headlines

At lunch most days I surf the web...who doesn't anymore. More often than not I find some odd stories or things that catch my attention and I wind up emailing them to people. Here is today's batch.

This poor woman was left for dead in front of the television for 42 years. Tragic and sad, it makes you wonder when was the last time you spoke to that long lost friend or relative.

This guy sure couldn't star on "Prison Break".

What was Don Imus thinking even coming close to this subject again?

That's it for now, back to work!

One Pick Can Save A City

Take it from someone who knows, one pick can in fact save a city. The NBA Draft is on Thursday night and with one simple pick the hopes and dreams of a city can be raised. I speak from experience. Living in Cleveland is very difficult on a die-hard sports fan. We have won NOTHING and when we lose, we lose big. But in May 2003 that all changed when the Cleveland Cavaliers received the number 1 pick in the draft and used it to select LeBron James. The city had finally won something, even though it was not a title. We own a superstar, he is ours...for now. So Danny Ferry, you have two years to get this thing right or else LeBron will leave. No pressure, now go find us a diamond in the rough at pick #19.

Heart Failure Takes Two of My Favorites

My family has a history of heart disease so my wife already has me on my toes about staying in shape and eating healthy. I'm very aware of it, get check ups regularly, and try my hardest to exercise and eat well (ice cream....damn you ice cream, why can't you be filled with fiber, fish oils and vitamin c!).

That being said, sometimes it takes the loss of someone close to you or some cultural icons to really wake you up and get you back on track. Today's new of the loss of George Carlin as well as the recent loss of Tim Russert, two men I really enjoyed and respected in very different ways, has gotten me thinking about my ticker again and it should have you thinking too. Click here to go to the American Heart Association to learn more about the heart conditions that plaque a significant portion of Americans.

George wouldn't like ending on a sad note, so if you have time sit back and enjoy one of his most classic pieces of work.

Team USA Announced

I am a proud American and a huge basketball fan so this announcement was anxiously anticipated. I am also from Cleveland, so anything with LeBron James attached to it is big. The thing that I find amusing is that Coach K has managed to stock Team USA with world class players...and has left off anyone with a connection to UNC. Sure, the Tar Heels have stocked the NBA with All-Stars over the years, but did anyone really deserve the nod this year? I strongly believe they did not, but since I am a Duke and Coach K fan I can already hear all of the Tar Heel fans latching on to this and yelling in the blogosphere.

The Inaugural Post

I have been thinking about this for a very long time, it's time for me to start posting the mad ramblings of vanilla suburban husband and father. The subject matter will vary, from my love of sports and politics to commentary of life as I know it. I hope you check back often, I plan on having some fun with this and hope you have fun with it too. I can't think of a better way to start than to post a picture of my family...enjoy!
