08/08/08 is the date, the Olympic Games are almost here! Many people take pot shots at the Olympics and don't enjoy them. They say it is a bunch of people playing sports people only care about once every four years, sports that are not "main stream". In my opinion those people have no idea what they are talking about! Throw aside the patriotism of the Olympic Games and the Olympics are still a true testament to core desire of athletes.
Look at people like Michael Phelps and Tyson Gay. These are two of the most dominant athletes of our time and the light shines on them once every four years...and they thrive on it. Yesterday Phelps set off on his quest to medal in NINE Olympic events. You read that right, NINE! His first step was also a World Record. Tyson Gay qualified for the Games by running the fastest 100 meter time in history, even though it was wind aided. This is going to be an exciting summer to be a sports fan and a proud American, I hope the casual sports fan will let themselves enjoy it.
